Seth A. Kaplan - Partner
Seth A. Kaplan's practice focuses on Corporate and Real Estate law and civil and commercial litigation. Seth has represented clients in the acquisition and disposition of real estate, and all other aspects of transactional real estate law, and has successfully litigated disputes on behalf of clients at the state court level. Additionally, Seth represents clients in the formation of new businesses, including restaurants and retail establishments. Seth has also represented developers, builders, and large and small corporations and individuals in both transactional and litigation matters.
Seth's expertise in the real estate and corporate arenas have led him to develop an emerging practice assisting start-ups in all aspects of developing new businesses, from idea to execution. Seth has been counsel to clients forming new restaurants, retail establishments, internet businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
An alum of Colgate University, Seth was a four year letter-winner in Varsity Baseball. He then received a M.A. in English literature from DePaul University and followed that with a six-year stint as a college and high school teacher of English and writing and a baseball coach at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL. Seth graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law in 2006 as a member of the Moot Court Honors Society and the Dean's List. He served as a judicial extern in the Northern District of Illinois for Presiding Magistrate Morton Denlow and Federal District Court Judge Robert Gettleman while in law school. Seth has been a Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2009-2016.
Seth is married with two children and lives in Evanston, IL. He currently volunteers as a baseball coach and enjoys running, sports, cooking and eating.
